About Luis Rodriguez
I started working with Boatshed Colombia in January 2023
Born in Santa Marta, Colombia. From a young age, I became interested in boats and the maritime industry in general so I majored in Nautical Science at "Maine Maritime Academy" in the USA.
What did you do before working with Boatshed?
I worked in the offshore oil industry for 4 years in various West African countries. I then moved back to Colombia in 2007 and started working in the family business which provides various services such as marine transport and pilotage at several ports (I´m a port pilot myself).
On the side, I have been buying old boats, restoring and selling them. I am also a photographer, I published a book during mid 2022.
What attracted you to become part of the Boatshed team?
I was attracted to become part of the Boatshed team, mostly because many people come to me for advice when buying a boat so I thought that it would be convenient to put that experience to use. And generally speaking, I just love to be around boats, marinas, boat shows and most of all, enjoy very much taking photos of boats.
Are you a motorboater or a sailor?
I have always been a motorboater, I enjoy the technical aspects of boats mostly (I minored in marine engineering).
What is your most memorable boating experience?
My most memorable boating experience was crossing the north Atlantic in the year 2000.
